desc Detailed Description

Exactly when M4 Markets commenced operations has yet to be well known. That it operates two brands to tailor to its EU and international clients suggests the company was around before 2018. One of the factors that traders have come to love M4 Markets for is the ability to trade ECN-style accounts on indices, crude oil and crypto assets without paying any commissions.

I. Background and Company Overview of M4 Markets

M4 Markets operates under two brands, providing an option for traders who cannot afford the margin requirements set out by ESMA in 2018.

The M4 Markets brand offers some of the most competitive spreads and swap rates for overnight positions. Here are some reasons why M4 Markets is gaining popularity among retail traders.

  • M4 Markets has a complete list of swap rates for long and short positions, so traders know exactly what they are paying and how much they can earn from carry trades.
  • There is a solid representation of the crypto market among the asset index on M4 Markets.
  • The leverage conditions are among the most generous in the market.

II. Trading Platforms and Tools

M4 Markets offers the MT4 and MT5 platforms. For traders to trade forex and CFD assets, the desktop client and mobile app of the MT4 are available.

Trading forex on the MT4 and MT5 is exciting, but doing so with specialized tools makes the experience much more worthwhile. Without much ado, here are the tools found on M4 Markets:

  • M4 Markets presents an in-house copy trading platform. The copy trader is available as a mobile app.
  • There are several forex calculators on the platform. These include a pip calculator, a margin calculator, and a swaps calculator.
  • You can use the MAM/PAMM facility for passive investing in a diverse product range.

III. Account Types and Spreads

Traders on M4 Markets can ply their trade from four account types:

  • Standard account
  • Raw Spread account
  • Premium account
  • Dynamic Leverage account

The Standard account is the lowest-level account, as it comes with a $5 initial deposit minimum amount. The account can be operated in four currencies (USD, ZAR, Euro and JPY). It comes with a stop-out level of 20% and a margin call percentage of 100. No commissions are charged on trades.

The Raw Spread account is the ECN-style account with a zero-pip feature, but it requires traders to pay a commission of $3.50 per lot on each side of the trade. The stop-out level is 40%, even as the margin call rate is 100%. The minimum deposit is $500.

The Premium account is the next-level ECN account which also showcases commissions of $2.50 per lot on each side of the trade. No spreads are charged on trades, and stop-out/margin call rates are the same as the Raw Spread account. The minimum deposit is $10,000.

Dynamic Leverage account users only require $5 as a minimum deposit to commence trading. Spreads start from 1.6 pips, but the leverage conditions are the most generous. The stop-out level starts at 30%, even as the margin call rate is 100%.

IV. Contract Specifications

  • What are the contract specifications on M4 Markets? These specs tend to differ from one account type to another, as the following points show.
  • Leverage is highest on the Dynamic Leverage accounts, coming in at 1:5000. Next comes the Standard account at 1:1000, followed by the Raw Spread and Premium accounts at 1:500.
  • Minimum trade size is 0.01 lots on all accounts.
  • Spreads are lowest on the Standard account (1.1 pips on EUR/USD), and highest on the Dynamic Leverage account (1.6 pips on EUR/USD).
  • Commissions paid by traders on the Raw Spread and Premium accounts only apply to forex and metals trades. Trading on indices, energy assets and cryptos are commission-free.

V. Security and Regulation

The M4 Markets brand is operated by two companies.

The global brand is operated by Trinota Markets (Global) Ltd, regulated as a Securities Dealer in the Seychelles by the Financial Services Authority. License number is SD035.

The EU brand is operated by Harindale Ltd, authorized and licensed by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) with license no 301/16.

Due to regulatory restrictions and international prohibitions, residents of the US, Cuba, Canada, Sudan, Syria and North Korea are unable to access M4 Markets' services.
